How Pippi Went From Sick Kitten to Family
The First Meeting
I first met Pippi back in 2019.
She was just a tiny little thing—barely a few weeks old, weak, and clearly struggling. Her eyes were crusted shut from a bad upper respiratory infection, and she could hardly see a thing.
She looked so lost and fragile. You could tell she didn’t know where she was or what was happening. Her whole face was sticky with discharge, and every time she tried to open her eyes, it seemed to hurt.
Caring for Pippi
So I started caring for her the best I could.
Every day, I’d gently wipe her eyes with a warm cloth and apply ointment from the vet. It became part of our routine—me crouched on the floor with her in my lap, her tiny paws tucked in, trusting me more with each pass of the cloth.
A Turning Point
Little by little, things started to change.
The swelling went down. The discharge thinned out. And then, one morning, she opened her eyes wide—really wide—and looked straight at me. It was the first time I felt like she saw me. Not just shadows or light—but me.
And in that moment, it was like the world opened up for her. That’s when everything changed.

Pippi Finds Her Personality
She went from scared and quiet to curious and full of energy. She started batting at shoelaces, trying to climb the furniture, chasing things only she could see. Her personality came out, and it was impossible not to fall in love with her.
I named her Pippi—it just fit.
A Permanent Family Member
She’s been with me ever since. She grew stronger, more confident, and somehow even more affectionate. Now she’s not just the kitten I once rescued—she’s my shadow, my roommate, and honestly, a huge part of my heart.
We don’t always choose our pets.
Sometimes, they choose us—and teach us more about love than we ever expected.
